I just saw something about a kid my age (14) going blind from Acanthamoeba keratitis, I assume he used a regular Renu solution or something, which i used to use; i just switched to Clear Care.. i almost always wear my contacts in the shower, and i always wear them at the beach (not smart, i know, but i don't go in the ocean anymore) and when i swim in my pool. Since Clear Care is a hydrogen peroxide solution, does it help prevent/ lower your chances of getting Acanthamoeba keratitis?

Well, no, not really. You get infected by this by being exposed to it and it being stuck between your contact and your eye, so taking a shower and swimming in them in any circumstance makes your chances higher, not really the solution you use to disinfect them. there have been some solutions in the past that have been suspect of not killing this little guy all that well, and they are no longer on the market.
There are several easy ways to greatly reduce the chance of getting this sight-threatening condition 鈥?and, in fact, any type of eye infection:
Follow your eye doctor's recommendations regarding care of your contact lenses. Use only products that he or she recommends.
Never use tap water with your contact lenses. Do not swim, shower or use a hot tub while wearing them. If you do decide to wear your lenses while swimming, wear airtight swim goggles and afterward dispose of the lenses immediately.
Be sure to soak your lenses in fresh disinfecting solution every night. Don't use a wetting solution or saline solution that isn't intended for disinfection.
Always wash your hands before handling your lenses.
Unless you are wearing disposable contact lenses that are replaced daily, always clean the lenses upon removal, or at a minimum, rub the lenses with your multipurpose solution and rinse the solution off of the lens.

Has Ciba Vision discontinued its ';Clear Care'; contact lens solution?
I use ';Clear Care'; for my contact lenses and I love it! But I've been to about 10 different stores here in Central Florida and can't find it anywhere! I even asked a clerk at CVS if she knew anything about it and she thought that the product had been discontinued, but didn't know how to confirm it. No, they haven't discontinued it, but according to the automated message on their hotline, the plant that manufactures it is going through some sort of equipment upgrade, and so it won't be on the shelves again until the beginning of April.
I was freaking out myself thinking they'd done something stupid like discontinued it, because I'd gone to like 10 stores in L.A. myself trying to find the darn stuff. I can't use the other manufacturer's brands because they use preservatives, so I was really worried and called Ciba Vision to find out what in flipping hell was going on. :-)
It really blows having to wait, but if you can hold out until April, all will be good. Better than having it disappear completely though. I just hope they don't change the formula or anything, because I really rely on it.Has Ciba Vision discontinued its ';Clear Care'; contact lens solution?

okay so i recently bought those clear care contact cleaning solutions stuff
i put my contacts in and it started to bubble up but the bottom thing isnt rotating.
is it suppose to rotate or not?

No, the bottom is not supposed to rotate. The solution that you have is a hydrogen peroxide base. Once you put your contacts in there it will take at least 6 hours to neutralize. Do NOT take them out before that and put them in your eyes! It can cause a not so nice chemical burn. And never use any other storage container but the one that came with the solution (iow, the flat kind).Clear care solution contacts help...?

just bought the solution and saw the metal part of the case, is it safe for your eyes? what if little microbial bits of metal get loose in there, it could damage your eyes right? ive have just never seen a contact lens case where metal is used with the solution, it seems unsafeClear care solution?

Whoa! It sounds unsafe. There's actually a metal part? If your contacts case filled with solution gets metal pieces in there, then it's contaminated. I've never heard of a contact lens solution coming in something other than a cardboard box.
